Timing

How Long Will It Take To Finish Your Degree Program?

The BA and the MA require a minimum enrollment of one academic year (eight

months). The PhD requires two academic years (16 months) beyond the Masters

degree.

 

There are several reasons why earning a degree non-traditionally can take less

time than what might be expected at a traditional residential university. The self-

learner does not have to wait for classes to meet. She can study whenever she

wants, even 20 hours a day, 7 days a week, as some non-traditional students

have done on occasion to finish a degree very quickly.

 

Summit also realizes that many adult learners have already learned a great

deal in their years as workers, professionals, parents, community leaders,

and time with special interests and hobbies. When evaluated and recognized

these learning experiences can add significantly to the amount of college-level

study a person has already acquired.

 

DEGREES OFFERED: Associate of Arts, Bachelors, Masters, Doctorates , in

most disciplines.

 

PROGRAMS: SUL's community assessment process evaluates an individual's life

long learning, both prior and current. Learners design their own program

and contract with their own resources or mentors. Each Learner works at an

individual pace and in their own writing and learning style.

 

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS: Transcripts are required to validate previous

levels of learning for all degree levels. Entrance exams are not required.
